Montreal’s Old Port to get upgrades

Canada’s government-owned Canada Lands Company is putting $50 million into infrastructure improvements for the Old Port of Montreal, one of the city’s prime recreation and visitor areas.

Among the changes will be swapping out a number of concrete areas for grass and trees, opening up more views, reconfiguring entrances and, especially, creating better connections between Old Montreal and the Old Port.

Canada Lands Company operates the Old Port, the Montreal Science Center and Toronto’s CN Tower and Downsview Park. it’s a self-financing Crown corporation whose only stockholder is the Canadian government.
