We’ve recently discussed the Swap Shop, a large shopping facility including indoor and outdoor markets, several drive-in screens, and a small amusement park. The star attraction at Swap Shop is not the shopping, but its fascinating car museum.
A car museum in a swap meet environment is not something I expected, and likely is something you’d only find in America. But quite a car museum it is! Ferraris are the largest part of the collection, one of which is the 1986 white Testarossa used in filming Miami Vice.
The cars are all upper end sports and racing cars cumulatively worth many tens of millions of dollars. Rather than talk about them, let me show you a sampling of cars in the collection. The are not arranged in any special manner:
1984 Porsche 930 turbo
1984 Porsche 962
1987 Ferrari Testarossa
1995 Ferrari F-50
2003 Ferrari Enzo
(only 399 built, with 90 in the USA)
2005 Maserati MC 12 Convertible
A very rare and valuable sportscar
2005 Mercedes SLR McLaren
Another rare and pricy collectible
2009 Ferrari Finali Mondiali (FXX)
One of only 29 produced and rarely seen outside of Italy.
2015 Ferrari F458 Speciale A
Only 499 were built.
2015 Porsche 918 Spyder
Only 918 were made
2016 Corvette Z06
2016 Porsche 911
2017 Ferrari 488 Spyder
2017 Ferrari F12 TDF
Only 799 built
Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder
Only 122 made
1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Speciale 6885
Rare car that raced at LeMans. Valued at $15 million.
Ferrari F40
Ford GT
The car highlighted in the 2019 Matt Damon film Ford v Ferrari, wherein Ford finally overcame Enzo Ferrari’s dominant race team at LeMans in the 1960s.
Valued at more than $7.5 million
The fastest street car ever built!
And lastly, two novelty cars not in keeping with the other fine racers:
It’s all free and if you like beautifully crafted and fast machines, be sure to include a stop at the Swap Shop the next time you’re in southern Florida.
