I’m a big fan of exploring markets and do so regularly during my travels. I’ve documented many of the markets I’ve visited during my travels on this website.
This was a small community market near a beach and clearly aimed at Sri Lankan residents rather than tourists. Many items for sale were intended to be gifts for children.
Fish are a popular and common source of dietary protein. Given the country’s warm climate, any fish not quickly consumed are dried and salted to prevent spoilage. Even so, this stall had a very distinct odor.
