Tintin, the popular Belgian cartoon adventurer, whose following is almost a cult, will be a frequent flyer on Brussels Airlines for another five years, the airline announced. The A320 that has been decorated with a Tintin theme since 2015 will continue in service another five years.
Tintin thus escapes the fate of surrealist painter Rene Magritte, whose theme plane was retired this year. Brussels also has a few other specialty paint jobs, but they are newer. Tintin had also reached a repaint or retire deadline.
The Tintin art, originally by Hergé, is licensed from Moulinsart, which has renewed its deal with the airline.
