Airport lounges, usually the treasured premises of high-status travelers, are about to open to the masses as budget carrier EasyJet opens a first lounge of its own at London Gatwick.
Of course, like everything else a budget carrier offers except the ride, the lounge is a paid-for extra, with offers for up to three hours at £18.50 an hour. The lounge, in partnership with lounge operator No1 Lounges, will also be open to customers flying on other carriers.
The Gateway Lounge will offer hot and cold food and drink on offer, sofas and tables to choose from, speedy wifi, and a family area with a “TV den and games room.” The announcement didn’t say if the food and drink is included in the price, but the statement does say that “Destination-inspired signature dishes, which change every quarter, will be offered for those wishing to get that authentic taste of Europe before they jet-off, as well as the lounge’s own signature cocktail list.”
