While rambling around the streets of Udaipur we were suddenly flooded by a throng of students. Obviously school had let out for the day and they were in a hurry to get home — or to wherever they were heading that afternoon.
The students were all well dressed and most seemed to be wearing a standard unisex “suit uniform” or a slight variation of it. I actually like the idea of school uniforms, which take away a petty reason for kids to gloat over what they’re wearing or to ridicule those who can’t afford the same. Uniforms provide a level playing field.
The kids were surprising well-behaved and as quickly as it began, the wave of youngsters had passed us by.
