A Tokyo hotel is offering a true bargain: a hotel room with private bathroom, a/c, mini-fridge, desk and stool for 1500 yen, less than $14 a night. It’s even in a convenient location, at a major subway stop, 15 minutes from the center of Tokyo.
Only thing is, it’s bring-your-own-bed, or sleeping bag or air mattress. At that price, about a fifth of the minimum going for a decent hotel, there’s no bed, but enough room to lie down on the tiny floor space. If that’s too much for you to deal with, the Hotel Pearl Kasai does have other options with beds, and higher prices. And a bath towel, which isn’t included in the no-bed deal.
On the other hand, it’s likely the only thing you’re going to do in that room is sleep, because you won’t have it for that long, either: Check-in time is 11 pm and checkout is at 8 am. If you’re looking for reservations, the one to ask for is, officially, the “No Bed or Bedding Waiting for the First Train Plan.”
