Bed and Books in Tokyo (and Breakfast)

Last week we had a news story about a Japanese hotel that was offering rooms without beds at a bargain price. This week, another unusual Tokyo overnight choice: A bookstore that rents rooms for the night. And breakfast, but that’s an extra charge.

Book and Bed, in Shinjuku and Kyoto, describes itself as an “accommodation bookshop” with all the things you’d expect in a bookstore, as well as the small capsule-style rooms that are rented to overnight guests. They can also be rented for a daytime nap.

There’s also a lounge area that can be used during the day for a fee plus a drink order. Extras aside from breakfast include available pajama rental, and a time extension to take a nap after breakfast. No extra charge for all the books you can read.
