Another Las Vegas resort is shedding its name and personality in the city that never stops changing, almost as if its intentionally-risque slogan “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” required a string of aliases.
The Bally’s Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip will soon undergo a complete metamorphosis, according to Caesars Entertainment, its owner and a major operator of Vegas hotels. Caesars is bringing back an old-time Las Vegas name, Horseshoe, which once belonged to Binion’s Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas.
The new Horseshoe will have a new exterior, new country-themed entertainment and new food-and-beverage options. While Caesars says there will be a “reimagined” casino floor and public areas, but changes to the hotel operation itself will be minimal. The overall theme is meant to say ‘western.’ Work will begin this spring.
Last month, the Vegas news included the sale of the Mirage resort down the street to Hard Rock, which plans to demolish the ‘volcano’ that draws nighttime visitors to Mirage and replace it with a new hotel wing, shaped like a guitar.
