While in Hawaii my husband and I fell in love with plate lunches. I have shared a few on here before and today I am going to share a place called L & L Hawaiian Barbecue. This original Hawaiian place has been around for over 50 years but was only available in Hawaii until 1999. Then L & L Founders Johnson Kam and Eddie Flores Jr introduced the concept to residents in California. However, they didn’t know how a plate lunch would be accepted so they repackaged it and called it Hawaii Barbeque.
I had wanted to try one while we were on Oahu because I knew they have one here in the Denver area but hadn’t had the opportunity yet. They have the traditional plate lunches, two servings of rice, one serving of macaroni salad, and the main protein (beef, chicken, fish). I have to say I really enjoyed their BBQ beef plate. Besides here and in Hawaii, we also found out that they have locations in AZ, CA, NC, NV, NY, OR TN, TX, UT, VA, and WA. We have tried the one here in Aurora and it tasted as good as it did out there. So glad they are close enough that we can go and get our fix once in a while. Hope you can try one someday if you haven’t been able to yet.
