It’s not what ‘haute cuisine’ usually means, but in Shanghai, the Heavenly Jin restaurant is celebrating it anyway: it has a Guinness World Record certificate naming it as the “highest restauarant in a building.”
At 556.36 meters or 1825 feet above the city, it occupies the 120th floor of Shanghai Tower, China’s tallest. The restaurant is part of the J hotel, which occupies the 86th to 98th floors of the building, for those who want to stay high after a meal. The J claims to be the highest hotel in the world.
Heavenly Jin beat out the previous titleholder, a restaurant in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. The restaurant’s general manager says that “Apart from the panoramic views of the Shanghai skyline, the restaurant also offers European, Japanese and Chinese cuisines for lunch and dinner, as well as afternoon tea.”
