The East Texas Oil Museum (ETOM) at Kilgore College in Kilgore features traveling exhibits. Most recent is a NASA exhibit from the Johnson Space Center.
The exhibit, “NASA Apollo Space Missions: Texas and American History,” features informational and photographic panels about the “Project Apollo” missions, a replica of a Mobility Unit spacesuit, a representation of the helmet used in Apollo training, moon/lunar rock replica displays from the Apollo 15 mission and the Apollo 6 expedition and photographs from the Apollo 12 Extravehicular Activity photography collection.
In conjunction with the exhibit, the museum and Kilgore Public Library hosted a come-and-go event, “NASA: Ready, Set, Launch,” with hands-on activities and an exclusive look at the museum’s NASA exhibit. More than 250 parents, grandparents, and children participated in the three-hour event.
The exhibit will run through March 26. It is on loan from the JSC in Houston.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
