America’s most-visited National Park is asking those visitors to help it track who else is in the park besides people. Great Smoky Mountains National Park and its science research partner, Discover Life in America, are trying to document all the organisms in the park, from tiny bugs to big bears.
Visitors are asked to use the iNaturalist app on smartphones to record sightings of species and share them with the Smokies Most Wanted program. The data is used to record new park species, detect invasive species and to learn more about understudied or rare species.
