Canada House, London

We visited Trafalgar Square on a rainy fall day.  The square is a spacious place, best known for its statue of Admiral Nelson atop a large pillar, and entrance to the National Gallery.

Sitting at one corner of Trafalgar Square is Canada House — the Canadian embassy (High Commission) in England.  It must be an extremely expensive piece of real estate, so I enjoyed the contrast seen in the above photo — a cluster of empty beer cans stacked on Canada’s House’s elegant entry.

Canada House has served as the country’s High Commission to the U.K. since 1925.  It offers the usual services you expect from a consular service — passports, immigration assistance, etc.  Tours are available for those who are interested and meet the security qualifications.
