When you first look at it, this hydrant doesn’t seem very special. But it’s made of plastic and is set on….astroturf ? That is a little unusual.
I came across this setup at Winnipeg International Airport recently. It must have been added during the CoVid years, because I’ve frequently flown through that airport during the past decade and don’t recall seeing it previously. YWG is not large enough for you to miss much in it.
The hydrant is part of a rather clever “pet relief” area by the departure gates. I saw at least one dog investigate and add his own special marker to the hydrant. Always good to see the target audience enjoy what’s been created for them!
