The Victorian Eastgate Clock is said to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben.
Desert View Watchtower, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.
Seems a bit odd to me that Victoria’s Gold and Diamond Jubilees were marked by so many public clocks built in 1887 and 1897. Almost seems as if they were counting down to the end rather than marking the past! The one on the Esplanade in Weymouth is also quite nice…
I agree. The one in Brighton is the weirdest with a “time ball” atop the clock that rode up and down a mast and fell on the hour. The ball was the subject of many noise complaints and was taken out of service for a while. I believe it no longer works anyway.
