Oregon’s big tulip festival is back

If getting to the Netherlands for big tulip events like Keukenhof seems a bit much right now, there’s a home-grown alternative waiting in Oregon, with 40 acres of blooming tulips at the annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival.

The festival, held at (you guessed it) the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm near Portland, has been extended through Mother’s Day, May 8, because of an unusually cold spring, which affected the timing of the peak season.

The festival, in its 38th season, also include a variety of other events including children’s activities, hot-air balloons and more. Tickets are available online only at the farm’s website.
