‘Spam Jam’ is back on Waikiki

Despite all the snide remarks Spam is subject to, especially since it became linked with junk e-mail, much of the world loves it, and Hawaii is one of the epicenters of fandom. Which is why Spam Jam is back on Waikiki after two years off due to the pandemic.

Visitors to the event, which runs through Sunday, will find a variety of Spam experiences including candied Spam hula pie (even some of us Spam lovers are unsure of that one), pineapple plantation Spam’n’eggs and even a mai-tai cocktail served in a Spam can.

It even includes some of the sort of prose you might consider Spam if it appeared in your email inbox. This is from Jenessa Kinscher, senior brand manager for Spam:

“From people getting inked with Spamtattoos and finding the brand on fine-dining menus to tens of thousands of fans hitting the beaches and restaurants in Hawaii for the Waikiki Spam Jam festival, the Spam brand has some of the most ardent fans you’ll find anywhere. The world can’t get enough of the unforgettable taste and infinite meal possibilities contained in this little blue can. It truly is the food of the past, present and future.”
