Moab, Utah gets a ‘basecamp’ hotel

You’ll more than likely stay in Moab, Utah if you are heading for Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.

Moab’s Main Street—U.S. 191—is lined with hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops. The community of just over 5,000 residents welcomes thousands of tourists, especially in the summer, to enjoy the national parks and the vacationland atmosphere. I checked out the many accommodations and settled on Radcliffe Moab. The independent boutique hotel had just opened its doors. It is located on Main Street within walking distance of shops and restaurants in town.

In fact, the Radcliffe is so new that I realized it was a special day. It was the hotel’s official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

After checking out my room and talking with employees, I also realized this is a unique hotel designed for every type of guest, including those planning hiking and biking. I was told it is the first ‘basecamp hotel’ located in downtown Moab. The 38-room hotel is designed and detailed to accommodate outdoor adventure travelers and anyone looking for a hotel with lovely rooms and friendly and professional staff.

Throughout the hotel, earthy tones and minimalistic design offer a relaxing atmosphere. I was also told all the artwork featured throughout the hotel is by three local artists capturing the area’s stunning vistas and terrain.

Hikers, bikers, and outdoor enthusiasts also have access to the first-rate, onsite adventure planning concierge with knowledgeable hotel staff and GearHeads, the ultimate outdoor family-owned gear shop located in the hotel lobby.

Before the ribbon-cutting, I checked out the outdoor lounge with two large hot tubs, a swimming pool and splash deck, and two fire pits.

In addition to walking to restaurants in town, the hotel has a restaurant. Il Rosso Posto offers Mediterranean cuisine meals using only local and seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms, gardens, and ranches.

The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner and offers Pack Out lunches ordered the night before. Food items and beverages are packed in a refrigerator bag to accommodate a full day of hiking and adventure-seeking.

I was delighted with the hotel, the restaurant, and the friendly and professional staff. The hotel is an excellent addition to the Moab community and a welcome destination for every guest looking for a perfect place.
