With the wide popularity of ‘immersive’ art shows based on the works of painters including Van Gogh, Monet, Klimt and Kahlo, usually set up in temporary quarters, it was almost inevitable that permanent spaces for digital art would come along, and now they have.
Las Vegas now has a permanent home for such shows, located on the ‘Strip,’ just north of Circus Circus. Called ‘Perception,’ it opened earlier this month with a show focusing on Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibit, calling him “the universal man,” includes a 35-minute film on his life and the Italy of his time, followed by time in a floor-to-ceiling recreation of The Last Supper, and finishing up with a room dedicated to Mona Lisa, with original music and six versions of the painting.
It’s not a cheap show, by any means: tickets start at $34.50, with $2 off for military and half-price for 5-12-year-olds; an extra $10 gets a ‘VIP Experience’ with a free drink. Since it’s Las Vegas, there’s no senior discount.
