Plans for a Disney Springs station on Florida’s Brightline rail service have been canceled, with the station moved to a spot that’s better for some of Disney’s competitors, but will need road links for any of them.
The semi-highspeed rail line, which has operated only in southern Florida for its first few years will soon open operations to Orlando Airport and then push on to a terminus on Florida’s west coast. A stop at Disney was announced in November, 2020 with great fanfare.
Pressure from not only rival theme park operator Universal which has a major expansion slated for 2025 but also from businesses in Orlando’s International Drive district helped sway the route change. The new solution involves two stations, one near the Orange County Convention Center and the other near but not at Disney Springs.
