Airbus makes big inroads in China

Airbus just pulled off its biggest one-day sale ever, with over 300 A320neo planes ordered by four Chinese airlines that have all traditionally been heavy buyers of Boeing planes.

The orders, for planes to be delivered between 2023 and 2027, are the first major buy since before the pandemic for China’s airlines, which are renewing and expanding their fleets. The order will help sustain Airbus’s plan to increase production of the plane to 75 per month by 2025. It has now outsold Boeing in the single-aisle market two years in a row.

The planes will be going to China Eastern (100), Air China (64), Shenzhen Airlines (32) and China Southern (96 purchased and 19 to be leased).
