Tailwind Air, which has been running seaplane service between New York’s 23rd Street on the East River to Boston Harbor is now expanding its service south, with a route to the DC area.
The service, which uses 8-passenger Cessna Grand Caravans, will grow a set of wheels for the Washington route. landing at College Park, Maryland’s airport. The small field, which is landlocked, is walking distance from the DC Metro’s Green Line—but what are the odds you’d pay $395 to save time and then take the subway? An Uber is more likely for a 30-minute ride to city center.
Service starts September 13, and flights between September 31 and December 21 have a BOGO deal to allow a companion to travel free.
