Lembah Bujang, Malaysia: A Well-Kept Secret

Lembah Bujang, or the Bujang Valley, is another well-kept secret in the town of Sungai Petani in Kedah, Malaysia. Being completely off the tourist circuit, it only attracts locals, and also expats like me who are here on work. On a Sunday morning too, when holidaymakers throng other places of interest, this little gem is frequented by only those with insider information, and thus it offers a blessing of sorts for an immersion into forest bathing.

A favourite route for the traders of yore, who used to ferry their wares across the bountiful river systems in this part of the world, it is now an open air museum with free entry, offering an unparalleled glimpse into both nature and culture.

One can spend hours basking under the sun upon the huge boulders that line the ancient river route, or stroll across the beautifully landscaped gardens, and people are also seen to have mini picnics here, without creating a din or throwing litter everywhere. Another must see for those who visit Kedah.
