The World’s Best Dinosaur Museums

Scientists have been finding dinosaur fossils for decades, digging them up and then recreating the skeleton using the bones which they have found. Museum für Naturkunde (Berlin)

The Natural History museum in Berlin is home to an enormous collection of real dinosaur bones. The majority of these were found in Tanzania and the bones cover a large range of dinosaur species. The show stopping piece in the museum is the 41-foot, 5-inch Brachiosaurus, which is, as far as we know, the tallest dinosaur which ever existed.

The Field Museum (Chicago)

Within this museum there is an exhibit called the ‘Evolving Planet’ which covers the history of the Earth from the Big Bang until now. Under the roof of this museum you will find the largest T-Rex which has ever been discovered, which was named Sue by those who found it.

National Dinosaur Museum (Canberra, Australia)

Australia has been the home to a large number of fossil discoveries over the years and this museum in Canberra houses almost all of them. Not only can visitors see the bones, they can also enjoy the wide range of animatronic displays and take part in active digs which are still going on around the site.

Wyoming Dinosaur Center (Wyoming)

If you wish to see Triceratops, Stegosaurus and Velociraptors then this is the place to do just that, and the quantity of bones which have been recovered is seriously impressive. This is another museum which invites visitors to take part in digs, and some of the world’s most highly regarded paleontologists work here, offering their experience and knowledge to all who come through the doors.

Zigong Dinosaur Museum (Zigong, China)

To those visiting or living in China, Zigong is where you should go in order to explore a wide range of complete dinosaur skeletons, 18 of them in fact. The museum is situated right on top of the Dashanpu fossil site, where so many prehistoric ruins, artifacts and fossils have been discovered. To give you an idea of just how popular this museum is, some 7 million people come through the doors each and every year. Anyone who loves dinosaurs is sure to adore this museum, and it is well worth making the trek if you adore dinosaurs and are fascinated by seeing the skeletons fully pieced together.
