In the Park, 1950s

My father passed away recently at the mature age of 93, and I’ve been going through some of his old photos.  There’s a lot of history in his collection.  Like this image, taken about 65 years ago in a Toronto area park.  It shows my youthful father and his parents (my paternal grandparents) resting on a park bench.  It would have been on a summer weekend, probably warm and humid.

Notice the terrific (now classic) cars parked behind them, and how nicely dressed they are.  They weren’t rich people but their clothes were clean and neatly pressed.  It was a time when people would dress up for a family picnic in the park.  Just like they did to go to work, church or dinner.
