Those who have been following TravelGumbo for some time know that I like to collect photos of signs. I find signage to be interesting and often very informative of the character of the community you are visiting.
After my first visit to Butte many years ago I published a post on Signs of Butte. When visiting the town this past summer, I gathered a few more signs that I think reflect the nature of this historic mining city fallen on tough times,

A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.
I was visiting a friend, and this was the view from their house. I could understand why they built their house facing this direction. I was taken by the beauty!
