Hawaiian Airlines gets inter-island connections

Hawaiian Airlines, which is both a major carrier for inbound travelers to Hawaii and an inter-island-carrier serving four major islands, has linked up with a commuter carrier to add service to three more islands it doesn’t currently serve.

The interline service agreement with Mokulele will make it possible for travelers to buy tickets from any of Hawaiian’s overseas flights with direct connections, baggage and all, to Mokulele flights to Molokai, Lanai and Kapalua.

Some of these destinations were formerly served by Hawaiian’s affiliate Ohana by Hawaiian, which the airline closed down early in the pandemic, leaving travelers to those sites to book separate flights to get to the smaller islands. Since flights from outside Hawaii all are to Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island, the new connections should make a difference to anyone headed elsewhere.
