Starting November 15th, passengers arriving at Washington’s Dulles International Airport will be able to hop a train at the airport and ride into the heart of DC, drastically cutting the cost and even the time of an airport run.
The last section of the Silver Line of DC’s Metro will open six stations that day, including the airport terminal in a project that’s been underway for more than a dozen years. The ride will take about 52 minutes to Metro Center, and cost around $6 at peak periods and less off-peak.
By comparison, cab and app-based car services start at around $60 and head north from there, and depending on traffic often take more than an hour for the 28-mile run. While it’s a big change for Dulles, which handles most of the region’s international traffic, it’s still not as easy as at in-close Reagan National Airport, where Metro is only a few stops away from downtown.
