TSA PreCheck just got cheaper

At a time when it seems like the price of everything is zooming higher the Transportation Safety Administration has a bargain for travelers: a 12% cut in the price of PreCheck enrollment, from $85 to $78.

Once enrolled, the program, which allows its ‘trusted traveler’ members to go through airport security with shorter lines and fewer items to pull out of their carry-ons, is good for five years. PreCheck members don’s have to take out their electronics or their 3-1-1 bags and can keep shoes on.

TSA says that members spent an average of under five minutes waiting in line at checkpoints this past September. There are over 500 enrolment centers nationwide, many at airports. The $78 price applies to first-time enrolment and to in-person renewals; online renewals are $70.
