A message from North Carolina high school students featuring their graduation photos has made its way to Setubal, Portugal after over two years at sea in a bottle.
The bottle, launched in July 2020, was found on a beach, photographed and its contents posted on Facebook, bringing the news to Ocracoke High School, where English teacher Charles Temple has annually taken graduating students on a boat trip to toss message bottles into the Gulf Stream. It’s the first bottle ever to turn up.
The teacher posted the news on the school’s social media pages with the comment “How cool is this?” He also pointed out that the student whose bottle it was still doesn’t have the news—he’s currently at sea himself, working on a fishing boat in the Bahamas.
