The Columbia River begins its journey to the sea in southeastern British Columbia. The valley that surrounds it is nestled between the Rocky and Purcell Mountains, and as you can see is a beautiful spot. It’s just over an hour’s drive north of the US border and over two hours from Calgary, the nearest large city.
These views were taken north of Fairmont Hot Springs, and include the Columbia River and the Columbia Wetlands, one of the largest wetland systems in the world. The area is home to more than 250 bird species.
