Copenhagen may be a bicycle city, but it’s also rapidly becoming an electrict-car city, and city officials are planning to add 4,100 new charging point for them on city streets.
A contract was signed last week for installation of 1,000 chargers this year, with the remaining ones, to be installed over 2024 and 2025 to be set out for bids later. The chargers will be installed by the three contractors and then operated by them, paying the city rent for street space, and charging drivers for charging.
The plan is expected to make the decision to buy an electric car an easier choice. Locations of the chargers are not written in the contract, but are to be agreed upon with the city
