Rio Piedras used to be a major shopping destination. It was home to a large food market, an outdoor mall and many other stores. But, like many towns in the United States, the development of suburban malls killed off the urban commercial center. Today, while there is a move to redevelop the area, it is still filled with abandoned stores, like this old Singer sewing machine outlet.
Desert View Watchtower, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.
