Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro wants to issue a “certificate of stupidity” and “a lot of kicks” to a man who had himself videoed jumping from a three-story building into a canal.
The man, who has not been identified, is seen in the video jumping, landing on his belly and swimming to a friend who hands him a towel as he climbs from the water.
The Mayor’s post on the incident, which was spotted online, says “He risked his life in that jump, but he is also a delinquent. They don’t understand the danger they create in this city. What if a boat would have been passing below?”
The incident follows by a year one in which two Australians were arrested in a surfboard stunt on the Grand Canal.
