County Kerry, Ireland, has added two more cycle-friendly routes connecting towns together, and linking up with other greenways already in use. The two routes both follow portions of a former rail line.
Ireland’s network of ‘greenways,’ routes dedicated to cycling and pedestrians away from roads with motor vehicles, has been growing for several years, and a number of additional projects will open within the next couple of years.
The latest, labeled “Kingdom of Kerry Greenways,” are the Listowel to Limerick Greenway, running 16 km, and connecting to the existing Limerick Greenway, and the Tralee to Fenit Greenway, running 13.6 km, and passing Mount Brandon and Tralee Bay.
