The ingenuity of people never ceases to amaze me! Whether in feats of architecture or engineering, or in creating art, people are often clever and very good at what they do.
I’ve never thought much about soap. It’s something you use to wash your hands, or when you take a shower. I like the liquid kind for the hands, but still prefer a bar of soap for my shower. I tend to buy basic functional brands, like Ivory or Dove.
I was unaware that an artisan culture had grown up around crafting soap. It seems that soap craftsmen have developed all kinds of ways to beautify the look of their soap, as well its scent. I would assume that the soap also feels good on your skin and probably has moisturizing properties.
I followed my wife into a soap shop while were rambling around Hot Springs, Arkansas. There was a large table on display, filled with platters of colorful soap. If it had been a candy shop, it might have been a fudge display!
The colors, smells, packaging were truly lovely, and the soap is not cheap. But it makes a nice gift, and my wife bought several bars for friends with that in mind.
The shop contained many more types of ointments and bath products, as you might expect.
