The “presence of a large number of bees” has forced the temporary closure of Restormel Castle, an English Heritage attraction near the town of Lostwithiel in Cornwall for at least two days.
The huge swarm was visible from nearby sites as well, with residents describing it as ‘terrifying’ and comparing the sound to an aircraft passing overhead.
English Heritage hasn’t posted information on re-opening, advising that visitors should check its website for updates before making plans.
Bees have been busy elsewhere as well: Earlier this month a Delta Airlines plane was forced to wait until bees took off from its wing before it could take off.
