The U.S. Transportation Safety Administration just rolled out a pre-summer gift for many family travelers: Teens whose parents have PreCheck can now follow their parents through the expedited line.
PreCheck allows ‘trusted travelers’ who have paid to join PreCheck to pass through lines where shoes may be left on and far less needs to be pulled out of bags to pass through. It’s also usually much faster than the regular line.
Up to now, only children 12 and under have been able to accompany their parents, leaving parents with a choice of paying for PreCheck memberships for teens or passing up the benefits of the line. PreCheck costs $78 for five years per person.
