JetBlue Airways is celebrating its 25th birthday year with a new coat of paint for its planes, turning the white fuselages blue and spreading its patterned tail paint onto the rear and bottom of the fuselage.

A spokesperson for the airline told press that “The new livery helps us stand out among a sky of legacy carriers and is a stunning reflection of our role as a disruptor that uniquely combines lower fares and great service.”

So far, only one plane has the new livery, a just-delivered A321, but it will be on all of the dozens of new planes JetBlue has on order from Airbus. The existing fleet will get the new look as part of a regular cycle in which planes are repainted about every six years.

Of course, if JetBlue succeeds in its proposed takeover of Spirit Airlines, it will need even more blue to cover Spirit’s bright yellow livery.
