After three years at the top, Qatar Airways dropped to #2 behind Singapore in the new World Airline Ratings announced at the Paris Air Show this week, but the bigger surprise is Qantas’s plunge from #5 to #17, its first time in years out of the top 10.
Qantas’ dramatic drop, after rising from 7 to 5 last year, was blamed largely on major issues with customer service, baggage and delays. A Qantas spokesperson suggested that if the survey were taken now, the results would be different.
Elsewhere in the rankings, Air France at #7 was the only Western Europe airline to make the top group, just behind Turkish at #6. The only American airline in the top 20 was Delta at… well… 20.
