Montana’s Bull River is located in the northwestern part of the state. It is a tributary of the Clark Fork River. The Bull River is just 25 miles long; it begins in and flows through the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area, where these photos were taken.
This area is only sparsely populated and is teaming with wildlife — deer, elk, moose and even mountain goats. The river itself is popular with fisherman and provides habitat for the threatened bull trout.
The scenery is grand! The peaks of the nearby Cabinet mountains rise to about 9,000 feet. I live in nearby northern Idaho and am glad that our drinking water comes from this region.
