Finland would like you to hang up on calls and social media for a while and visit what it hopes will be the “world’s first phone-free island.”
An official from the local tourist board on Ulko-Tammio, which is part of the Eastern Gulf national park, says that “We encourage visitors to put their phones away voluntarily and to focus their senses on nature rather than on their phones.”
It’s all on the honor system, but officials hope that the benefits of unplugging will lead to a high degree of compliance and happier vacations.
