San Francisco’s Ferry Building, a waterfront landmark that serves as both a transportation hub and a retail center, will celebrate its 125th birthday on July 13th with a variety of special activities.
The activities for July 13th, labeled a Very Ferry Birthday Party, include a day of free fare for 17 and unders on the ferry lines serving the building, free ice-cream sundaes and a music program. Other events will continue through August.
The building, whose lower floors are now a large mall for food vendors and which hosts an outdoor farmers market, survived both the 1906 and 1989 earthquakes with little damage, and was restored in the early 2000s.
