Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport, located on an island just off Toronto’s downtown waterfront, will soon be even more convenient for travelers to and from the U.S. with the planned opening of a U.S. Customs pre-clearance center.
The pre-clearance program completes the U.S. immigration and customs process at an overseas airport before flying to the U.S., so that passengers don’t need to go through processing on arrival. It also means that flights are possible to U.S. airports that don’t have customs facilities of their own.
Billy Bishop Airport is the main hub for Porter Airlines, and also has service by other Canadian and U.S. airlines. The new pre-clearance facility is to open in 1925.
