Cornwall, the southwesternmost part of England, is getting a new walking way that links its northern and southern coasts and links up with an existing path that follows the coast. Together, they will make it possible to walk a full circle around Cornwall.
The Tamara Coast to Coast Way mostly follows the course of the Tamar River, which forms most of the border between Cornwall and Devon. It uses new connections as well as existing riverside and canalside paths, and stretches a total of 87 miles.
Together with the existing Southwest Coast Path, it creates a 387-mile route around Cornwall, though the manager of the plan says he hopes the route will encourage people to explore parts of the Southwest that are overlooked as people head for coastal destinations.
