Dutch Slavery Memorial, Amsterdam

In 2002, The Dutch government, and Queen Beatrix, dedicated a memorial to the victims of slavery in the colonies of The Netherlands. They dedicated this memorial, sculpted by Erwin de Vries. The memorial represents the progression from being enslaved, to breaking the chains, to freedom. It is in Oosterpark, the city’s newest park.
