Portugal will be host to one of the three stages of the upcoming World Cup of Sand-Racing, a new event expected to draw thousands to the country’s tourist-rich Algarve region.
The event, under sponsorship of the International Motorcycling Federation, will take place November 17 to 19 at Monte Gordo. The race has categories for both two-wheel motorcycles and quad bikes. Aside from IMF, the sponsors include Municipal Council of Vila Real de Santo António, where Monte Gordo is located.
The municipality predicts that “the event will have a very positive impact on the local economy, from commerce to the hotel and restaurant sectors, and reinforces the idea that Vila Real de Santo António and the Algarve region have the potential to be visited throughout the year.”
I wonder how the guys not in the lead can see anything? It’s worse than dense fog.
