Rabat is the administrative capital of Morocco, while Fez is the architectural capital, Casablanca is the financial capital, and Marrakech is the cultural capital.
Rabat is a huge, modern city without trash or graffiti (similar to Singapore in cleanliness). This means, there are hundreds of police or protective services people everywhere.
When we were dropped off to see the Hassan Tower, where the founder of Morocco was buried, three police immediately escorted us into the grounds, telling our guide where to park (we think!). There is a beautiful mausoleum with pillars and columns surrounding it, and the tower on the grounds.
There is a huge king’s palace and gardens as you enter the town, although there are apparently three of them in the city, so one is never quite sure which one the king and his family are inhabiting. We walked around the Oudaya (the old medina).
Everything is wonderful! I love everything here!
This is the city I dream of visiting in the future.
