National Parks: Best Leaf-Peeping

It’s October now, and the fall foliage ‘leaf-peeping’ season is in full glory in many parts of the country, and spreading further and further through December.

Some of the best displays of brightly colored leaves in dramatic vistas are to be found in the U.S. National Parks, and the National Park Service has made it that much easier with its maps and guides at nps.gov to the best places and times to go for a fall road trip.

Here’s a Park Service-selected list of some of the best parks for fall foliage:

  • Blue Ridge Parkway (NC, VA)
  • Cedar Breaks National Monument (UT)
  • Glacier National Park (MO)
  • Great Smoky Mountains National Park (NC, TN)
  • Guadalupe Mountains National Park (TX)
  • Natchez Trace Parkway (AL, MS, TN)
  • Rocky Mountain National Park (CO)
  • Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway (WI, MN)
  • Shenandoah National Park (VA)
  • Yosemite National Park (CA)
